Jessica Silbey will deliver a lecture in the Osnabrück University Law & Literature Lecture Series, based on her most recent book Against Progress: Intellectual Property and Fundamental Values in the Internet Age. The lecture will be given virtually beginning 12:00pm EST on Tuesday, April 18.
This lecture will address how intellectual property law, originally envisioned in the US Constitution as a regime to enable markets in intellectual goods, is becoming a framework through which to discuss essential sociopolitical issues. The result is to refigure the substance of the constitutional purpose of “progress” in terms demonstrating the urgent relationship of art and science with social justice today.
