Michele Martinez

Senior Lecturer, Writing Program

I care about the well-being of first-generation undergraduate and graduate students, having been one who struggled to thrive in higher education. I found my way into a satisfying career as a scholar and professor, but it wasn’t easy. As a first-year writing instructor and mentor to graduate writing fellows and new faculty, I can provide insights into how to navigate the hidden curriculum/protocols of the academic setting and offer support when education collides with family and work obligations.
