Pardee Director Presents on Water Interactions in a Changing Climate

Pardee Center Director Anthony Janetos delivered an invited lecture on April 2nd at Northeastern University as part of The Myra Kraft Open Classroom series, Water: The Challenges of Extremes. His talk, which focused on “International and National Water Security Issues”, discussed the interactions of water, land use, and energy as well as the impact that a changing climate will have on these interactions. Prof. Janetos also highlighted the role of human influence on the natural water cycle and how the decision-making process that divides water between its multiple uses impacts resource availability and geopolitical stability.

Prof. Janetos is a recognized expert on climate change and a coordinating lead-author on the recently released Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability. Prior to joining the Pardee Center in Spring 2013, he served as Director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute at the University of Maryland, where for six years he oversaw an interdisciplinary team of natural scientists, engineers and social scientists committed to understanding the problems of global climate change and their potential solutions.
