Prof. Najam Speaks at Planners Conference on ‘New Metropolitanism’
Prof. Adil Najam, Director of the Boston University Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, spoke at the 50th Anniversary Conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) in Washington D.C. The ACSP is the premier academic association of regional and urban planners and the theme for this year’s anniversary conference was “Reinvesting in America: The New Metropolitan Planning Agenda.”
Prof. Adil Najam spoke at a panel titled “Shared Destiny: Internationalism and the New Metropolitan Planning Agenda” convened by Prof. Bishwapriya Sanyal of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Apart from Prof. Najam, other speakers at the panel included: Prof. Scott Campbell (University of Michigan), Prof. Subhrajit Guhatha Kurta (Arizona State University), and Prof. Christina Rosan (Temple University).
In his presentation, Prof. Najam highlighted the importance of thinking about global realities in conceptualizing the “new metropolitanism” and stressed that the key challenges of our times and of the emerging future all necessitate such an approach.
