New Voice Disorders Clinic – Starting This Fall!
Starting September 2016, the Boston University Academic Speech, Language, & Hearing Center will begin its new voice disorders clinic.
Services
Services include a comprehensive evaluation of laryngeal (voice box) function, including acoustic and aerodynamic testing and assessment of motor abilities. Clients will receive a detailed evaluation report and treatment recommendations. Voice therapy will focus on comprehensive treatment of a wide range of voice and upper airway disorders/conditions, tailored to each individual client.
Clients must already have a formal diagnosis by an otolaryngologist or ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physician consisting of one of the following to qualify:
- vocal cord/fold lesions (ex. nodules, polyps, cysts)
- vocal cord/fold paresis
- laryngeal edema (ex. Reinke’s)
- muscle tension dysphonia/aphonia
- Parkinson’s Disease
- paradoxical vocal fold motion disorder/vocal cord dysfunction
- chronic cough
- vocal fold atrophy/presbyphonia
- puberphonia
- transgender voice
