Sara O’Brien Receives Outstanding Preceptor Award from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Sara O’Brien, a nutrition lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences was selected as a recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Preceptor Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This award recognizes preceptors who are exemplary educators and mentors. One of only five awardees across the country, O’Brien was recognized for her “vital contributions” to the profession and to the education of future practitioners. In addition to teaching at Sargent College, O’Brien is an advanced practice registered dietitian at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.

“It is humbling and gratifying to receive an award recognizing my work as a preceptor, an aspect of my profession that I enjoy immensely,” said O’Brien. “You are given an opportunity to impart knowledge, joy and technical skills onto the newest registered dietitians. You can demonstrate how more gets done in a health care setting through collaboration and what a valuable role dietitian’s play in a patient’s clinical course and outcomes.”
