Francisco Stork was born in 1953 in Monterrey, Mexico. Today he works in Boston as an attorney for a state agency that develops affordable housing. He is the author of two novels in addition to Marcelo in the Real World:

Cheryl Klein began her career at Arthur A. Levine Books as an editorial assistant in 2000. She has worked closely with authors and illustrators including Lisa Yee, Katherine Paterson, Guillaume Prevost, Kate Constable, David Small, Elizabeth Bunce, and Saxton Freymann, and she also served as the continuity editor for the last three Harry Potter books.
