4/28: Prof. Hahm Speaking at ‘Solidarity with Asians and Pacific Islanders’ Webinar

Join Professor Hyeouk Chris Hahm on Zoom this Wednesday for her presentation, “How We Can Prevent History from Repeating Itself: Addressing Anti-Asian Discrimination and Supporting Asian Youth.”
Hahm’s talk will “cover the prevalence and impact of COVID-19-related anti-Asian discrimination, the brief history of anti-Asian discrimination, pervasive biases and prejudice on Asians,” the event page states.
The presentation is one of three featured in “In Solidarity with Asians and Pacific Islanders in America,” which also features speakers Eunice Kim of the Stop AAPI Hate coalition and Martin Platt, a translator and interpreter for Southeast Asian languages in courts and hospitals. The webinar is presented by the University of Iowa’s International Programs, the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, College of Dentistry: International Affairs and Programs Committee, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, the Office for DEI, and Tippie College of Business.
ABOUT PROFESSOR HAHM
Hyeouk Chris Hahm is chair and professor at BU School of Social Work. Her research – which she has disseminated in over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications and more than 150 professional talks – is dedicated to reducing health disparities among Asian American populations with a particular emphasis on building empirical evidence of health risk behaviors such as self-harm and suicide.
