BUSSW clinical professor Luz Marilis López recently received the 2019 State University of New York at Buffalo School of Social Work (UBSSW) Distinguished Master of Social Work Alumni Award for her exemplary work in the field.

The award, established in 1977, honors an outstanding UBSSW alumna who has made noteworthy contributions to social work practice and whose ability to bring about positive change has added distinction to the social work profession.

In addition to her role as clinical professor, López is the associate director of BU’s dual degree program in social work and public health and a co-investigator of the Boston Medical Center (BMC)-led project, “Primary Care Training and Enhancement.” In September 2019, López assumed an additional title as the new director of the Global Health Core at BUSSW’s Center for Innovation in Social Work and Health.
