Prof. López Examines Covid-19’s Impact on Intimate Partner Violence for Latinos

BUSSW professor Luz M. López, an expert on culturally responsive social work and public health, leads a one-hour online workshop – “Covid-19 and the Impact on Intimate Partner Violence for Latinos” – on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 1:00pm EST. Developed for social workers, psychologists, counselors, graduate students, community health workers, and other mental health providers, the workshop will explore factors contributing to increases in intimate partner violence including socio-cultural Latino traditions; Covid-19 shelter-in-place practices; and the mental health consequences of unemployment, economic hardships, school closings, and uncertainty. Lopez will also focus on available domestic violence prevention resources and ways to identify cultural resilience and coping strategies that address the impact of the pandemic on Latino families. 

The workshop is hosted by the National Hispanic and Latino Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) Network.
