IGSW Receives New Grant from The Atlantic Philanthropies

The Institute for Geriatric Social Work (IGSW), located at Boston University School of Social Work, has received a nine-month grant of $720,000 from The Atlantic Philanthropies.
Established in 2002, IGSW has become a national leader in the effort to build a stronger workforce for an aging society through educational innovation, research on training effectiveness, and workforce redesign. Over the past five years, IGSW has trained more than 40,000 practitioners in all 50 states and in more than 24 countries overseas, and has pioneered regional and state-wide workforce development projects involving online educational programs in aging.
This grant will be used to establish a comprehensive sustainability plan to support IGSW’s mission to improve the quality of practice of practice of social workers and other social service practitioners who work with older adults and their families. SSW principal investigators include Professor Scott Miyake Geron, Kathy Kuhn, and Bronwyn Keefe.
