Associate Professor Bachman Granted Tenure
Dean Gail Steketee is pleased to announce that Associate Professor Sally Bachman has been granted tenure.
Professor Bachman received her MS in 1980 in Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her PhD in 1994 in Social Welfare Policy with a concentration in Health Policy from the Heller School at Brandeis. Teaching her first courses at BUSSW as an adjunct professor in 1992, she became a full-time faculty member in 1997 as a Research Instructor. In 2002, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Research Department and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005.
Professor Bachman has more than 35 publications in areas related to health policy. Collaborating with colleagues at BU’s Schools of Social Work and Public Health, she has been Principal Investigair or Co-Prinicipal Investigator on 13 grants of $4.4 million in areas that include oral health care, health care policy, men’s health, disability, Medicaid care management, HIV and substance abuse prevention, and care coordination for youth. Her extensive service includes serving on the University’s Institutional Review Board, coordinating SSW’s dual degree program with the School of Theology, serving on many doctoral dissertation committees, chairing the School’s Program Assessment Committee and Curriculum Committee, and as serving in multiple roles on the boards of area social service and non-profit organizations.
