Dean Jorge Delva is Keynote Speaker at Global Conference on Poverty Alleviation through Social Work in China

Dean Jorge Delva gave the keynote address at the international annual Conference on Poverty Alleviation hosted by Henan Normal University on December 8 & 9.

Delva, who joined an array of global scholars sharing their expertise on relieving poverty through social work practice, focused on “The Association of Poverty with Health: The Case of the Opioid Epidemic in the U.S.”

In May, BUSSW hosted faculty from China’s Henan Normal University (HNU) in a cultural exchange to discuss BU’s model of professional social work training. While HNU established its Social Work Department fifteen years ago, the recent push for practice-focused professional education led the school to supplement its Bachelor of Laws offering with the province’s first and only Masters of Social Work (MSW) program beginning this year.
