Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is proud to announce the promotion of Faith Little to senior lecturer. Little is the first salaried lecturer to be promoted to senior lecturer since the School instituted an advancement policy for salaried lecturers this year. “It’s great to see a path to apply for promotion from lecturer to senior lecturer, and eventually to master lecturer,” says Little.

Little has been a lecturer at BUSSW since 2002 and has taught in the School’s on-campus, off-campus, and online MSW programs. “I particularly enjoy experiencing the variety of students and learning platforms at BUSSW,” says Little, who received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the 2022 graduating class. During her time at the School, she has taught classes on research methods, social welfare policy, mental health policy, and policies and programs for the aging.

In addition to her role as lecturer, Little recently became the School’s research course coordinator, where she organizes the two foundation research courses (Research I and Research II) that are required of all students. In this role, she brings together those who teach these courses across the in-person and online programs to ensure the course syllabi, assignments, and other materials are consistent; she serves as a liaison with the department chair and ensures course materials are current and consistent with curriculum requirements. Her role also includes troubleshooting student issues as they arise in course sections.

In the greater Boston University community, Little has also worked for several years as an elected union steward for BU salaried lecturers. In this role, she supports and represents BU members in the Service Employees International Union and meets regularly with the other stewards across BU to look after members’ interests.
