Jennifer M. Gómez, an assistant professor at Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW), joins the board of End Rape on Campus (EROC) under the leadership of BUSSW alum Kenyora L. Parham (MSW’12), board chair and CEO, and #MeToo movement founder Tarana Burke, vice board chair.

The organization aims to end campus sexual assault by providing direct support for survivors, prevention-oriented education, and policy reform at the campus, local, state, and federal levels.

Following their “Centering the Margins” framework, EROC focuses on the needs of historically underserved and marginalized student survivors of rape and sexual assault on college campuses – creating community spaces, providing mental health and legal resources, advocating for students’ rights through policy legislation, and holding schools accountable.

In addition to Parham, Gómez, and Burke, the board includes Karla Arango of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and Sarah Colomé, founder and CEO of Collective Futures LLC.

Prof. Jennifer M. Gómez is a Black feminist trauma researcher, critical race scholar, and the author of “The Cultural Betrayal of Black Women & Girls: A Black Feminist Approach to Healing from Sexual Abuse.” She developed cultural betrayal trauma theory (CBTT) to examine the impact of oppression on outcomes of violence on marginalized individuals and communities. She is a board member and committee chair at the Center for Institutional Courage, faculty affiliate at the University of Michigan’s RacismLab, and research scientist at the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research. An editorial board member of the Journal of Clinical & Child Adolescent Psychology and the Journal of Trauma & Dissociation, her research has been published in more than 100 peer-reviewed journals, books, newsletters, and regional and national media outlets.

Kenyora L. Parham (SSW’12), an alum of BUSSW’s Master of Social Work program, was named CEO and board chair of End Rape on Campus in 2023 after five years leading staff and operations for the organization in her previous roles as executive director, chief of staff, and staff director. She is the founder of C-Suite in Living Color, a community space for current and aspiring executives of color, and co-founder and former president of Aspiring MENtoring Pipeline which aims to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and support the leadership of pre-adolescent boys of color.
