After an extended vacancy, we are pleased to announce the arrival of alumna Terry Moynahan (SSW’04) as the School’s new Director of Development. Terry officially joins the School of Social Work on January 31.

Terry returns to BU after serving as Major Gifts Officer at Project Hope in Roxbury, MA, where she led the launch of a leadership gifts program and institutional giving efforts on behalf of the agency’s mission supporting homeless and low-income families.

Previously, Terry was with the University’s central development office for nearly nine years, beginning her fundraising career in prospect research and then as Associate Director for corporate and foundation relations. In the latter role, she was charged with securing private gifts and grants from corporations and foundations across several of the University’s schools and colleges, including BUSSW. Terry has been a member of the BUSSW Alumni Board since 2006. She also serves on the steering committee of Women in Nonprofits, a local networking group for young nonprofit emerging leaders, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Originally from northern New Jersey, Terry earned her undergraduate degree in English Literature from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In her free time, she enjoys travel, art and architecture, coffee houses, kickboxing and kayaking, and her monthly book club comprised of fellow 2004 BUSSW graduates. She is delighted to return at this exciting time for the School and the University, and looks forward to meeting many alumni and friends in the coming months and years.
