Visiting Scholars Join BUSSW Community
The School of Social Work welcomes three visiting scholars for the 2007/08 academic year:
Dr. Rachel Dekel
Rachel Dekel is a social worker and a faculty member at the School of Social Work at Bar-Ilan University in Israel. Throughout the last decade she has been studying and working in the area of coping with traumatic events both with direct victims and with their families in Israel. Her research explores the consequences of traumatic events, their functional and emotional costs, and ways to assist direct and secondary victims of trauma.
Dr. Hyemee Yoon
Hyemee Yoon is a Professor in the Department of Child Welfare at Chungbuk National University in Korea. Her major research areas are social work with children and family including child abuse and neglect, adolescents in risk, and burnout among social workers. Currently, she is the chief editor of the Korean Journal of Social Welfare, the most prominent social work journal in Korea.
Finn Laursen
Finn Laursen is a PhD student and lecturer at Aalborg University in Denmark in the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Organization. He teaches social work practice and is a leader of social work education. His area of research is substance abuse and young people.
