Interim Music Director for Traditional NE Church: Lead creative musical worship within our community
The Music Director and organist at First Parish Congregational Church in Yarmouth, ME is retiring after 30 years of service and we are searching for an interim Music Director for the upcoming program year (mid-August 2016 – June 2017). This position includes oversight of the musical programs at First Parish which support our worship service on Sunday mornings. We are a traditional church with plenty of people who love organ and classical music, but we also like mixing things up and have featured ukuleles, youth bands, guitar groups and more.
You should be comfortable choosing music for worship services and able to work with our choir. Ability to play the piano is essential, organ is preferred. You should also be willing to coordinate musical efforts and offerings beyond our standing choir and bell choir programs. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a willingness to try new things are essential.
