A short film by 传媒学院 student Tianyu Du has won a coveted 2023年美国导演协会学生奖. Du’s film 鲍勃 was awarded first place in the Best Asian American Student 电影maker for the East Region category. 最高奖项的奖金为2500美元，颁奖仪式于去年12月在纽约举行。

She began to read news stories about other people who had migrated to another country, and that inspired her to write the script for 鲍勃, which went on to win COM’s Adrienne Shelly Foundation Script-to-电影 Award $5,000 production grant at last year’s Redstone 电影 Festival.

Du created and developed 鲍勃 in the COM class Social Purpose Shorts, cotaught by Gustavo罗莎 and Marni Zelnick, both assistant professors of film and television. 同学Jessica Yijie Chen (COM ' 23), Raphael Edwards (CAS ' 23, COM ' 23, Sargent ' 23), Rafeeat Bishi （COM ' 24）和Emily Ma （CAS ' 23, COM ' 23）也参与了影片的制作。

泽尔尼克说：“获得这样一个奖项的好处是，它让你知道自己能做什么。 “We had targeted and very specifically encouraged this film to apply for an award, because we felt it was such a good fit and it’s such a wonderful project,”

As the child of immigrant parents from Nigeria, Bishi, the film’s assistant director, also felt a kinship with 鲍勃. Bishi说：“剧本中描绘的许多小习惯和经历与我作为第一代美国人长大的许多事情非常相似。”

Like Du, Bishi, and Ma, other members of 鲍勃’s production team were either immigrants or part of first-generation families. 鲍勃杜说，这是为了他们。
